Low voc compliant SSP5000 cleans better than solvent-based, leaving no residue which is to blame for many redoes. Solvent-based preps leave a thin residue that attracts paint like a magnet. When the painter sees this, he usually tack rags the area of paint accumulation. Two outcomes occur: 1. Clear covers this area and traps the metallic finish so as a result you get marble or line shaped discoloration that is evident and must be repainted. Normally it happens and other panels must be blended in. 2. Painter sees problem before clear coat and shoots base coat over it reducing the blend area and most of the time applying base on almost the entire panel resulting in a bad color match appearance. |
